This is just in from
the World Meteorological Organization, a report confirming that the
last ten years have been the warmest on record since modern measurements got
under way 160 years ago. The report says that, yes, the unusual heat waves in Europe
and Russia and the droughts in the Amazon and Australia are all indicators of
global climate change. The Arctic sea ice is rapidly melting and the melting of
the ice sheet covering Greenland is accelerating.
Global
warming is no longer a threat on the horizon; it is here and now. We are living
in a changed world.
